In Spanish you say te toca when it’s someone else’s turn.
Playing a game? Te toca. Time for that chore you all hate? Te toca. Brushing kids teeth? Te toca. And so on. This morning Lucas woke up too late to go back to sleep, but too early for my liking. And while I love that child more than anything; while I usually enjoy an early morning just the two of us downstairs; while his chubby-cheeked smile simply is one of life’s sweetest joys, today I wasn’t feeling it. Guilt-free, I plopped him back in bed post-feeding, padded back to our room, slipped under the covers, and tapped my husband on the back. “Te toca,” I whispered, and then rolled over and went back to sleep. ******I’d be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge all the single parents out there, who don’t have a partner to tag in with a te toca. You are warriors.******

I had to laugh. I'm so glad you were able to go back to bed, guilt free and let your husband have his turn to bask in Lukas' "chubby-cheeked smile".

Sweet! I want to start using this phrase with my husband. The dog just pooped in the yard. Te toca!
